How the Must / Should / Could list works
Start by emptying your head onto the page, then sort every task into one of three boxes:
- Must do – has a deadline or a real consequence this week. Keep it to four or five items.
- Should do – important, but nothing breaks if it slips a few days.
- Could do – nice to have. If you get to it, great; if not, it moves to next week without guilt.
Then pull tasks into the day boxes. Every Must gets a day; Should items fill the gaps.
Keep the daily lists short
Three to five tasks per day is a list you can finish, which is what keeps a to-do list motivating. Anything you’re blocked on goes into Waiting on with a name, so it doesn’t clutter today. Need time slots instead of lists? Try the weekly planner with hours.
